Gaza Community Mental Health Programme has recently held its annual donor consortium meeting with the Swedish Consulate in Jerusalem, the Norwegian Representative Office, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation. Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, General Director of GCMHP, Dr. Taysir Diabm Deputy Director of Professional Affairs, and Mr. Issa Al Nahhal, member of the Board of Directors, as well as a number of the heads of departments and units at the programme attended the meeting which was held at the Gaza Community Centre.
Dr. Abu Jamei started by welcoming those present in Gaza and those who attended by voice call from Jerusalem, giving thanks to the donors for their efforts in helping the programme complete its strategic plan for the next three years 2019-2021. He also mentioned the latest updates regarding the difficult situation that the population of the Gaza Strip is living through along with its psychological consequences.
Mr. Mattia Poretti, Deputy Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Palestine, thanked the GCMHP for the efforts done in developing the next strategic plan, confirming the confidence that the donors have in the programme’s vital role and services in the context of the difficult circumstances that the strip is going through.
In addition, a number of important topics were raised and discussed throughout the meeting including the next strategic plan and the changes and developments that have been made on it. The emergency plan that the programme is following at the moment has also been discussed in the context of the ongoing attacks on the Gaza Strip.
The modified budget for the year 2018 and the general budget for 2019 were also discussed along with the internal modification of the programme.
At the end of the meeting, Dr. Abu Jamei thanked the donors for their continuous support hoping it will continue to show solidarity. Mr. Poretti, in turn, thanked all the workers in the programme and assured them of the donor’s commitment to support GCMHP.
