Delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) Visits Gaza Community Mental Health Programme”
A delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) visited Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP). The delegation which included Director of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Ms Sarah Muscroft, Mr Hamada Al-Biyari, and Ms Alaa’ Abu Ramadan, has been received by Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, Director General of GCMHP.
Dr Abu Jamei took the delegation on a tour inside Gaza community center and other departments in the the headquarters to explain to them the work dynamics and the services provided to the population.
Following the tour, the delegation sat with GCMHP's administrative staff, which included Dr Abu Jamei, and Mr Qusai Abu Odei, Director of External Relations and Resources Development Department, and Ms. Wafaa Soboh, coordinator of project “Provision of Specialized Mental Health Services’-- funded by oPt- Humanitarian Fund -OCHA.
Dr. Abu Jamei made a presentation on the mental health situation in the Gaza Strip, explaining the major challenges and gaps in the provision of mental health services, especially after the last offensive. Mr Abu Odei provided a briefing on the main components of the 'Emergency Response Plan' as well as the interventions provided under the current project funded by oPt Humanitarian Fund.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation expressed their admiration for the work done by Gaza Community Mental Health Programme to support the well-being of the people in Gaza.
