“GCMHP and PHR Cooperate in Holding Free Medical Day and MH Training”

In cooperation with Physicians for Human Rights, Gaza Community Mental Health Programme has held on Thursday, July 8, 2021 a group of medical and mental health activities in the Gaza Strip.

The activities were carried out by a group of doctors and mental health specialists from  PHR who visited Gaza from the Green Line, as part of the work done within the framework of “Unblocking the Future” Project which is funded by the European union.   

The professional delegation, which was presided by Dr Salah Yehia Al-Haj, provided a free medical day that was organized  by GCMHP and PHR in collaboration with the Union of the Work Health Committees clinic in Rafah Town, Southern the Gaza Strip.

80 patients benefited from the free medical day, during which medical support was given in the fields of gynecology, pediatrics, family medicine and endocrinology. The patients were provided with diagnosis and consultation services as well as medications.

Three workshops were also held simultaneously in three different venues at Al-Salah Restaurant, targeting a group of mental health professionals who work at the Ministry of Health and GCMHP.  The workshops were conducted by 5 experts, who gave training in ‘Trauma Incident Reduction’; Wechsler Test; and Woodcock–Johnson Test.  

During the implementation of the activities, Dr Yasser Abu Jamei, GCMHP General Director, and Dr Salah Al-Haj Yehia, head of the medical team, and Mr Qusai Abu Odei, GCMHP Director of External Relations and Fund Raising Department closely followed the work process through field visits to the places where the activities took place.
