“GCMHP And Al-Hilal Sports Club Mark End of ‘Sports for Smile’ Project”

 

Gaza Community Mental Health Programme has marked on Tuesday, 4 May, 2021, the end of ‘Sports for Smile’ Project in one of the clubs the project has been implemented at.

In a festive atmosphere, the ceremony was attended representatives from Al-Hilal Sports Club and GCMHP, who celebrated the end of the project together of the children who benefited from the project.

Dr Yasser Abu Jamei, the Director General; Qusai Abu Odei, Director of External Relations Department; and Hasan Al-Shaer, Project Coordinator, together with Mr Ayed Abu Ramadan, Head of Al-Hilal Sports Club; Mr Saaed Al-Madhoun, the executive director of the club; and Husam Al-Baz, the financial director.

Mr Al-Shaer introduced the event by thanking the administration of the club and the children, who have been given the space to externalize their thoughts about the project and how it benefited them.

Dr Abu Jamei, then Delivered a brief speech, which he started by thanking the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) for their generous donation, which has made it possible for the Palestinian Children to live the unique experience of Sports for Smile.

He also said thank you for the administration of the club and the coaches who worked during the crisis situation of coronavirus pandemic which affected all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip, and also thanked the children who unfailingly attended the activities and abided by the protection procedures.  

Mr Abu Ramaran, on his part, expressed his gratitude for GCMHP for implementing “such kind of important projects, which play a significant role in improving the psychological wellbeing of the children,” making an appeal for continuing the work on carrying out more projects of such kind.  

The children also expressed their happiness and shared their positive experiences during ‘Sports for Smile’.

At the end of the ceremony, gifts and certificates of recognition were handed in to the girls. The coaches and the club administration were presented with plaques in recognition of their efforts.

 

Other clubs are due to mark the end of ‘Sports for Smile’ project in the few  coming days.
