Keeping its intervention with people affected by crisis, GCMHP has provided a series of group counselling for individuals whose ages are between 18 and 39 as part the GIZ-funded Project: ‘Supporting affected people in the Gaza Strip to Deal with the Current Challenges and Enhancing Hope for a Better Future- Emergency Response Intervention 2020’.
The counselling has been carried out by GCMHP’s psychological first aid teams which work across the Gaza Strip to support people who have been affected by crises, especially Covid-19 pandemic.
This service is being provided in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Social Development, which refer people who suffer from high levels of stress to GCMHP, which arrange them in categories based on the type of the problem, the age and their place of residence.
The groups are held in community based organisations which work in partnership with GCMHP.
These groups, each consists of 8 to 12 people, aims to provide the participants
with stress management techniques and enhance their self-confidence, and also
provides them with the space and opportunity to interact with others with the
same issues and understand themselves as well as the others.
