In recognition of his outstanding efforts in contributing to the psychological wellbeing of the Palestinian society, Director General of Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, Dr Yasser Abu Jamei has been given the international ‘Community Resilience Award’ on Friday, March 25, 2021.
The ‘Community Resilience Award’ was one of a few other international awards presented to prominent international figures by Rebuilding Alliance, a non-profit organisation based in California, USA. Those figures included: Hanan Ashrawi, a Palestinian leader, legislator, activist, and scholar; the American Senator, Dianne Feinstein; and Congresswoman Jackie Speier as well as other regional and international figures known for extraordinary efforts in advocating and championing human rights.
During the honoring ceremony, Dr Abu Jamei delivered a speech, which he started with stating that “this award is not only for me; it is also for Gaza Community Mental Health Programme and all the Palestinians who dream of freedom and justice and who have been struggling for decades for having a promising future.”
He also said thank you to all the nations which have been standing by the Palestinian people to help them end their suffering.
