Community Mental Health Programme has held on Thursday, December 3, 2020, a
study day on ‘mental health under Covid-19.
To conform with the social distancing rules, the participants – GCMHP professionals and mental health diploma students – were divided into three groups in three spacious venues.
Dr Salah Al-Haj Yehya. Head of PHR’s delegation delivered a speech in which he explained the type of cooperation and long-term relationship between his organization and GCMHP. He also expressed his hope that such cooperation, which dates back to the time of late Dr Iyad Al-Saraj, would continue to grow.
Mr Mohammad Al-Zeer, Head of GCMHP Academic and Professional Unit, presented his organization in behalf of Dr Yassir Abu Jamei, the Director General.
Mr Al-Zeer thanked the participants and the delegation for coming to Gaza – a trip that is so exhausting due to complicated procedures visitors have to go through when they visit the besieged Strip.
Dr Jamal Dakooki, from PHR, made a presentation in the first venue on the methods of communication between mental health service providers and clients. He also talked about the skills of acquiring psychological immunity which are essential for mental health services providers when dealing with cases that suffer from psychological disorders.
In the second venue, Dr Sami Oweida, Director of GCMHP Community Centre, made a presentation on the impact of Covid-19 on the mental health state in the Gaza Strip.
Finishing the first session, the presenters swapped venues to lecture to different groups.
