GCMHP General Director starts a Speaking Tour in the USA

Dr. Yasser Abu Jamei, General Director of the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme has embarked on a speaking tour in the USA from the 14th to 28th of November.

The tour will extend from Portland in the State of Oregon passing through Olympia, Seattle, and Spokane in Washington to Boston in Massachusetts and ending in Washington, DC. Dr. Abu Jamei will speak at various institutions which are concerned with Human Rights and Mental Health. These include various academic institutions such as the University of San Bernardino, The University of Washington, Boston University, and Harvard Medical School. Think tanks like the Institute for Palestine Studies and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will also host Dr. Abu Jamei.

In addition, the tour is aimed at raising awareness regarding the situation of Mental Health in the Gaza Strip in the context of development and human rights. Two of the main themes are the intersectionality between justice and peace and Mental Health in regions of conflict. It also aims to fundraise for the Gaza Community Mental Health Programme
