In the middle of this month, UK family therapist Gwen Daniel interviewed Dr. Yasser Abu Jama, Director General of Gaza Community Mental Health Programme about the mental health efforts being done in the Gaza Strip in light of the repercussions of the genocidal war on the state of mental health.
The interview took place during a Zoom session, where Dr. Yasser talked about the coping mechanisms that people use to survive the catastrophic state of killing, destruction and starvation, and how the GCMHP contributed to strengthening the coping mechanisms of Gaza population.
During the session, Dr. Lama Khoury presented the latest report by Gaza Community Mental Health Programme, entitled: “People are suffering and dying,” while journalist Victoria Brittain, who wrote about the report in an article entitled “Miraculously, therapeutic care for Gaza’s deeply traumatized people is happening,” frames the discussion.
