Within the activities of “Sports for Smiles” project which is funded by the German Development Agency (GIZ) , Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) recently organized two public meetings entitled “Violence and its Psychological Impact on Children”.The meetings targeted the parents of children who benefited from the project. The meetings were attended by Mr. Mohanned Al Salhi, a Project Coordinator at GCMHP, Ms. Noura Ashour, a Project Coordinator at GIZ, and Dr. Abdel-Rahim Bahjat, Chairman of Board of Directors at Al Mughazi Club. The first meeting was held at Al Mughazi Club, and the second meeting was held at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society Club in Khanyounes.
“Sports for Smiles” project aims at providing psychological support for children through the sports activities.
The meetings were facilitated by Mr. Osama Freena, a Psychologist at GCMHP, and Ms. Khetam Abu Shawarb, a Social Worker at GCMHP. The meetings included an open discussion and an active participation from the mothers and fathers who attended the meetings, regarding the subject.
The participants appreciated GCMHP’s and GIZ’s valued efforts in serving the Palestinian community, in addition to their effective role in the implementation of this project.
