“GCMHP starts training on PFA and children’s addiction to electronic games”

GCMHP started on Sunday, February 16, 2020 an educational training course on the principles of psychological first aid, self-care, and children’s addiction to electronic games.

20 caregivers working in the kindergartens, which report to the Palestinian Early Childhood Education Foundation, participated in the course, so did a group of specialists from GCMHP.

The course was inaugurated by Mrs. Inas Jouda, head of the Training and Capacity Building Unit, and Mr. Mohamed Abu Shgair, a social worker at GCMHP Khan Younis Community Centre.

During the opening session the services provided by GCMHP as well as the topics of the training course were presented.

The course aims at providing participants with skills and information about the causes of children’s addiction to electronic games and social media and how to make intervention through specific techniques. It is also designed to introduce the basic principles of psychological first aid and its application, and provide the caregivers with skills in stress management and self-care.

The course, which consists of 20 training hours, is held at the headquarters of the program and will last for 5 days, ending on Thursday, 20 February 2020.
