GCMHP’s Department of Training and Scientific Research started on Sunday, 11 Jan, 2020, a gender-Based Violence training course, targeting 20 female and male football and volleyball coaches.
The coaches are from 4 sports clubs: Al-Maghazi Servcies Club; Beit Hanoun Youth Club; the Palestinian Red Crescent Society Club ; and Al-Hilal Sports Club.
The 16-hour training aims at providing the participants with pivotal knowledge to help them better deal with the children and adolescents they will be dealing with during the implementation of “Sports for Smile Project”, which uses sport as a tool to provide psychosocial support.
The course focuses on conceptions such as the difference between ‘sex’ and ‘gender’; identifying the causes of gender-based violence; how to make interventions to restrict GBV; and sharing experiences between the participants.
The training, organized in partnership with the GIZ, has been provided by Ms Amal Seyam, Head of Women Affairs Centre.
