Within
the activities of Project Part, GCMHP Specialists carried out a public meeting
for 30 displaced men at Al-Mazraa Al-Sharqiya shelter in the Deir Al-Balah Town,
central the Gaza Sterip. The meeting was conducted in the Engineers Syndicate
Hall, next to the aforementioned shelter.
At the opening of the meeting, the professionals introduced themselves and the various services GCMHP provides, especially during crisis and war conditions.
The meeting was held under the title: ‘Psychological Stress and Its Relationship To the problem of addiction’.
The meeting was scheduled based on a prior need assessment in coordination with the management of the shelter center.
In alignment with the title of the meeting, several important topics were discussed. These included:
· The most important stresses and psychological symptoms experienced by the participants.
· When there is an urgent need to seek psychological service, and what the effective channels to service providers are.
· The problem of addiction as a negative reaction resulting from psychological stress.
· The difference between safe psychiatric medications and narcotic drugs that cause addiction.
The
participants interacted positively during the meeting and raised some relevant
inquiries, which were answered by professionals. Then, the meeting was
concluded with feedback collection from the participants who expressed their
satisfaction.
