In Cooperation with International MH Organization, GCMHP Holds Online Session on ‘Gaza War Impact on Mental Health’

In cooperation with Global Mental Health Network – Palestine, and Gaza Mental Health Foundation, a discursive online session  entitled “Nine Months in the Waron Gaza: Impact on Mental Health and the Response by Gaza Community Mental Health Programme” was launched on August 3, 2024.

As a keynote speaker, Dr Yasser Abu Jamei, Director General of GCMHP, presented the results of the recent report issued by GCMHP. The report tells of the detrimental impact of the war on mental health in the Gaza Strip. It also provides detailed recommendations for dealing with mental health challenges and highlights the need for urgent holistic humanitarian support.

The session was attended by 130 local and international mental health experts and professionals.

Dr Lama Khuri, A Palestinian Psychoanalyst from New York, moderated the session. Dr Khuri is also one of the founders of the Palestinian Global Mental Health Network, and its official speaker and networker.

Ms. Gwen Daniel, a family therapist and author working at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom, also participated as a keynote speaker in the session. She is a member of the steering group of the Palestinian Mental Health Network in the UK, and is a patron of the Palestinian Trauma Centre, which also works in Gaza.
