To recruit all
possible psychosocial resources in the face of the unprecedented human crisis
that the Gaza Strip is facing, GCMHP is continuing the provision of its
services while building the capacities of other sectors working in the
humanitarian and relief field.
The capacity building training was designed to provide the participants with the psychological first aid techniques needed to intervene with people in distressful times and make sure that they have the services safely, proficiently and with no harm done.
In addition to that the training included identifying people who need psychosocial support or referrals to specialized intervention. Besides, the participants were issued with maps that show the places where psychosocial services are provided, especially those related to child protection and GBV.
The training also focused on self-care skills for the helpers who are also facing a huge pressure due to the massive demand on the psychosocial services, but also because the helpers themselves are facing the impact of the war as part of the community.
This training course, which started in June and targeted 30 staff members, is planned to continue over the coming days.
