GCMHP concluded a series of graining
courses implemented by in cooperation with the International Committee of the
Red Cross.
The courses, carried the title "Basic Skills for Psychosocial Support", targeted 17 professionals working in ICRC partner organizations.
The closing ceremony of the training programme was attended by GCMHP’s psychologists: Ms Aida Kassab, and Ms Nour Abdel Wahed, as well as Mrs Nidaa Al Zaeem and Mrs. Islam Abu Helou from the ICRC. Mr Juan Carlos, Director of Programs at ICRC also attended the ceremony.
The three-day course (12 training hours) aimed to provide the participants with knowledge about the psychological effects of war, types of traumatic experiences, as well as the concept of psychological support and stress. The course also addressed several important topics, including the concept of psychosocial support, and psychological first aid – Part One and Part Two.
The participants expressed their thanks and
gratitude to GCMHP and the trainers. They also thanked the ICRC, and called for
more courses in the field of mental health, stress management and self-care.
