Mental Health Expert Prof. Slaughter Visits GCMHP on Capacity Building and Networking Programme

American Mental Health Expert, Professor William Slaughter, visited Gaza Community Mental Health Programme as part of the organization’s strategic goals of  experience exchange and networking that aim to enhance the capacity of mental health provision in the Gaza Strip.

During his one-week visit to the Gaza Strip, Professor slaughter, associate professor at Harvard Medical School, provided a series of lectures at GCMHP and at the Psychology Department of the Islamic University of Gaza.

His lectures addressed several topics including ‘sleep disorders and drug abuse’,’ biological sciences of the brain and its relationship to the human psychological state’, ‘accurate diagnosis of clinical cases’, and ‘image rehearsal therapy’.

His lectures provide space for discussion among students and specialists who attended the lectures, which also included case studies and clinical examples.

Professor Slaughter also made a number of visits to GCMHP’s partner organizations, as part of the networking efforts made to reinforce the work of the mental health sector in the Gaza Strip.
