“On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, GCMHP Launches its Campaign in Support of Women’s Rights”

As part of the commitment to constantly support women’s rights, Gaza Community Mental Health has started on November 25, 2021 a holistic media campaign to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which is being celebrated this year under the theme: ‘Orange the World: End Violence against Women Now”.

The campaign aims at orienting the whole community about women’s rights and the detrimental impact of violence against women, and the need to collectively work on changing social misconceptions which affect the psychological and physical wellbeing of women or lead to doing her injustice.

A host of activities are incorporated in the campaign, which targets all the social sectors and aims at eliminating all forms of violence in the community in general, and against women in particular.

These activities include educational awareness materials published on both the mass media and digital media.

The campaign also includes an workshop entitled “Enough!”, through which GCMHP and partner organizations, working in the fields of mental health and human rights, are to present, discuss and explore women’s issues from different social, psychological and legal perspectives.

Besides, a host of awareness public meetings are to be held in three main universities across the Gaza Strip to educate male and female students about the impact of violence against women.

A video clip  about the most rife form of violence against women in the Palestinian context and the solutions to them is also to be presented at the workshop and published on digital media. In addition to that a TV programme is to be broadcast on Maan TV station, through which a GCMHP mental health specialist is to discuss “The Cultural Perspective of Violence Against Women between Acceptance and Incrimination”.  The programme will also be published on digital media too.

Billboards promoting messages of women’s support have been installed in vital and marginalized areas across the Gaza Strip as part of the campaign.
