Gaza Community Mental Health Programme held on 16 July, 2020 a training course entitled “Psychological First Aid” in cooperation with the Norwegian Refugee Council.
14 staff members from the NRC participated in the training course which lasted for 2 days.
Ms Enas Juda, Head of the Training and Capacity Building Unit; Ms Samah Mahmoud, specialized trainer; Ms Bessan Abu Harab, Project Coordinator from the NRC, marked the closure of the training course.
The 10-hour training provided the trainees with basics knowledge of stress management, psychological traumas, psychological disorders and self-care.
Videos related to the topics of the training were presented. In addition, a variety of practical activities and simulations, such as relaxation exercises and self-care technics, were practised during the course.
It was recommended for the trainees to use the above technics in their professional and personal lives.
Both GCMHP and NRC reiterated the importance of the continuation of cooperation between each other in order to promote the services they provide for the community.
The trainees, who requested more relevant courses with longer periods, also expressed their satisfaction about the training course which they said added a lot to their experience.
