Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP) in cooperation with the German Development Agency (GIZ) have started recently the implementation of the activities of the project “ Sports for Smiles”. The project targets 500 children suffering the effects of the 2014 war, including those with disabilities, and children living in difficult economic conditions. The project also targets 20 sports coaches aiming at providing psychological support for the children through sports activities.
The activities of the project, which runs until mid-November 2018, are being implemented in four clubs in the Gaza Strip: Ahly Youth Beit – Hanoun, Al Hilal-Gaza, Khadamat Al – Magazi, and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society club in Khan-Yunis. The project’s activities are conducted in a happy and joyful manner.
It is worth mentioning that the coaches received several intense training courses in the field of Child Mental Health. The training courses were conducted under the supervision of both GIZ and GCMHP.
