A delegation from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) recently visited Gaza Community Mental Health Programme (GCMHP). The visit aimed at conducting field visits to one of the GCMHP mobile stations in the North of the Gaza Strip. It is worth mentioning that GCMHP has six mobile stations in the eastern border areas; the clinics are founded as part of the project ”Enhancing Protection Mechanisms through Providing Mental Health and Psychosocial Interventions to Victims of Current Crisis at Border Areas in Gaza Strip”, funded by OCHA.
During the visit, the delegation was acquainted with the services that GCMHP’s professionals provide at the mobile stations including psychosocial support for the victims of the border crisis (Marches of Return) in Gaza, for both children and adults. They also discussed other activities being implemented within the project such as Psychological First Aid service (PFA), and public awareness raising through the different media tools such as radio spots, billboards and awareness-raising publications.
The delegation included Ms. Fouz Ali Hassan, Mr. Mostafa Halabi from OCHA, and Mr. Davide Tundo, the Protection Cluster Focal Point under the Office of High Commissioner of Human Rights (OHCHR). In attendance were Mr. Hasan Zyada, Head of Gaza Community Center, Mr. Qusi Abu Ouda, Head of Projects and Fundraising Unit at GCMHP, and Ms. Basma Zaqout, a Project Coordinator.
